Chapter 85: The Reincarnator Gathering

“Just call me Black Face,” said the person wearing a black face mask.

“In that case, call me Monkey,” followed the one with the monkey mask, also using the mask as their codename.

“Then naturally, I’m Funny,” said the person wearing the comical emoji mask.

As they spoke, the three of them looked over at Tsukiyomi Ruri.

Tsukiyomi Ruri thought for a moment and said, “I’ll call myself Ghost.”

Leona, who was the actual ghost: “…”

With their codenames decided, it was time for the trading segment of the evening.

The Reincarnator Forum had a dedicated Trade Section. Normally, transactions between reincarnators could be handled directly through the forum. However, to ensure these trades were conducted properly and effectively, the forum would often provide an intermediary, taking a certain commission fee in the process.

To save on this fee, some individuals chose private trading. The Reincarnator Forum didn’t interfere with this practice, but if someone was scammed, or worse, lost both their money and goods, the forum would certainly not step in to deliver justice on their behalf.

“I’ve got an R-Grade Equipment Card here. It transforms into a long spear. Anyone want to trade for an Ability Card or Equipment Card of a similar grade?” Black Face held up a card and asked.

No one said a word.

“No one wants it?” Black Face asked, his tone resigned.

“Does this spear of yours have any other special functions? It is an R-Grade Equipment Card, after all. It can’t just be a simple spear, can it?” Alioth asked Black Face, curious.

“The spear can…” Black Face immediately began to explain.

After some discussion, Black Face’s Equipment Card ultimately remained untraded.

Seeing this, Tsukiyomi Ruri also produced a card. “I have an N-Grade card here called [Updraft]. I’m looking to exchange it for another N-Grade Ability Card. There’s no specification on what kind of ability card it needs to be.”

An N-Grade card?

Alioth looked at the card, deep in thought.

‘No wonder this guy who calls himself Ghost is completely wrapped up in a puppet costume. It turns out he’s only a Low-Level Reincarnator, worried about something happening to him. But I haven’t had any use for N-Grade cards in a long time. I don’t have a single one on me.’

Similar speculations began to form in the minds of the other three. They all mentally categorized Tsukiyomi Ruri as a Low-Level Reincarnator.

Monkey spoke with a strange, affected tone, “Hey, could you produce an R-Grade card for trade instead? At these offline reincarnator gatherings, it’s generally an unspoken rule that the lowest grade of card for trading is R-Grade. We’ve never seen an N-Grade card here before.”

Reincarnator Gatherings had appeared multiple times on the Reincarnator Forum, and indeed, a few unspoken rules existed. These rules were mainly in place to protect Low-Level Reincarnators. As members of the very bottom rung, they lacked the ability to protect themselves and weren’t suitable for these kinds of offline gatherings where safety couldn’t be guaranteed.

However, Tsukiyomi Ruri had only recently started browsing the Reincarnator Forum and was seeing a Reincarnator Gathering for the first time. Naturally, she was unaware of this.

“An R-Grade card? I don’t have one,” Tsukiyomi Ruri shook her head.

In reality, she did have another R-Grade card, [Sin Scythe], and even an SR-Grade card, [The Faceless]. However, she planned to use [Sin Scythe] as a weapon for [The Faceless] and didn’t intend to trade it away. At the moment, the only card she felt she didn’t have much use for was [Updraft].

Of course, whether or not Tsukiyomi Ruri had anything to trade wasn’t really the point. Her main reason for being here was to understand the specific process of a Reincarnator Gathering. After all, in her past life, the number of reincarnators had been quite small, and a situation like a Reincarnator Gathering had never even occurred.

“You don’t even have an R-Grade card? Then what did you come to this gathering for? Just to sightsee?” Monkey couldn’t help but speak with a heightened sense of arrogance, his tone turning unfriendly.

When a person becomes a reincarnator, suddenly grasping immense power, they often adopt a condescending attitude toward ordinary people, feeling they are special and different. Within the reincarnator community itself, the stronger ones often hold this same condescending attitude toward the weaker ones.

“Monkey, don’t say things like that. Having an extra person just livens things up a bit,” Alioth said with a laugh. He then turned to Tsukiyomi Ruri. “Ghost, don’t take what others say to heart. But if you can’t even produce an R-Grade card, there’s really nothing to be done. You might only be able to act as an observer at this gathering.”

Black Face and Funny didn’t say anything to Tsukiyomi Ruri. They just cast cold, indifferent glances her way before quickly looking away, unwilling to spare her further attention.

“I don’t mind. Please, carry on,” Tsukiyomi Ruri said calmly.

“It’s not like you’re in a position to mind anyway,” Monkey snickered, making no effort to hide his mockery.

Tsukiyomi Ruri glanced at Monkey but didn’t say anything further.

Leona, however, was very displeased. She grabbed Tsukiyomi Ruri’s hand and started writing on it, using it as a way to communicate with her.

“These guys are too arrogant! They’re completely looking down on you. How can you swallow this insult?” Leona fully expressed her displeasure, seeming very indignant.

Tsukiyomi Ruri took hold of Leona’s hand, which felt cold and delicate to the touch, and wrote back, “There’s no need to mind it.”

“Why can’t you mind it? This sort of thing doesn’t bother you? Are you that magnanimous?” Leona wrote and asked.

“That’s not what I meant,” Tsukiyomi Ruri wrote in reply. “I just prefer to do things that produce results. For things that won’t have any effect, I don’t really want to waste my time. Simply put, a sharp retort won’t change anything. If I can take direct action, I’ll do it directly. I don’t waste words.”

Leona fell silent for a moment, then wrote and asked, “So when are you going to take action?”

“I want to continue observing the flow of this gathering,” Tsukiyomi Ruri wrote back.

Since Tsukiyomi Ruri had put it that way, Leona didn’t feel it was her place to say more.

In Leona’s eyes, the other reincarnators at the gathering were all Mid-Level Reincarnators. And Tsukiyomi Ruri, as far as she was concerned, was a Senior Reincarnator. Dealing with them would be a piece of cake, wouldn’t it?

The gathering continued as normal after that.

But regardless of the procedure, everyone now completely ignored Tsukiyomi Ruri. In their eyes, this person codenamed “Ghost” didn’t even qualify to trade with them.

Tsukiyomi Ruri didn’t mind, watching the situation unfold from the sidelines.

It wasn’t long before the Reincarnator Gathering finally came to a close. Several trades had been successfully completed during the process.

‘So, is this all a gathering is? It doesn’t seem like there’s anything worth paying particular attention to.’

Tsukiyomi Ruri made her internal assessment.

The organizer, Alioth, stood up and said with a smile, “Alright, that’s all for today’s gathering. If we need another one in the future, I’ll make another post on the forum. Everyone, feel free to follow me.”

“Sure, I’ll definitely follow you. But next time you make a post, be sure to clarify the requirements for attending the gathering. Don’t just let any Tom, Dick, or Harry in,” Monkey stood up, grinning as he spoke to Alioth.
