Chapter 51: Wife and Daughter

They hadn’t been chatting long when two more people arrived.

“Let me introduce you—this is my wife, Beryl Hicks, and my precious daughter, Vera Hicks!”

Seeing them come in, Victor rose with a smile and introduced them to Amelia.

Amelia also stood to greet them, while sizing them up.

Beryl was a woman of full figure. Although no longer young, she had taken good care of herself and could still be called a beauty. Her long golden hair was gathered and fell over her right shoulder, and her sea-blue eyes studied Amelia curiously.

Vera was a girl around Amelia’s age. Her water-blue hair was tied into low twintails behind her, and she wore an elegant, form-fitting dress. Her eyes, the same water-blue, looked at Amelia.

“You two are about the same age, and even your hair and eye colors match. If you walked outside together, you might be mistaken for sisters,” Victor said with a smile.

“Who wants to be sisters with her?” Vera snorted coquettishly.

“Indeed, you are not sisters,” Victor continued. “Strictly speaking, Lily is a generation above you. You should call her Little Aunt.”

Vera: “???”

Amelia put on an affectionate smile. “My dear niece Vera, let’s get along well from now on.”

“Who wants to be your niece! Hmph, I have things to do; I need to get back to the academy.”

Vera puffed out her cheeks, turned, and left.

Seeing this, Victor said helplessly, “Vera has always been this headstrong. It’s my fault for spoiling her too much, and now there’s no correcting it. I apologize for making you see this.”

“I actually find Vera quite lively. There’s nothing wrong with a girl her age being lively.”

“But you yourself don’t seem so lively, Lily.”

“Don’t dwell on the past any longer. From now on, just live well here in Bild City.”

“Thank you so much, Mr. Victor.”

Amelia chatted effortlessly with Victor. His wife Beryl also joined in, and the three had a very pleasant conversation.

The carriage rolled back out of the Hicks Family estate.

Even now, Eileen still felt as if it were a dream.
