Bild City, East District, Red Maple District.
Red maples were trees naturally found all over Bild City, but they were most numerous in this particular district, filling the streets and courtyards, hence the name.
After circling around Red Maple District once, Amelia and Eileen selected a house with a courtyard. They contacted the landlord and rented it for a year at a cost of one hundred and twenty thousand Kerr.
Originally, she had wanted to buy a house outright. However, as the capital of the Luban Duchy, real estate in Bild City was expensive. The type of place she chose wasn’t a cramped dwelling either; it even had a courtyard, so the cost was naturally higher. The Kerr she currently had on hand was clearly insufficient for a purchase.
Another reason for choosing this place was that its surrounding wall was made of stone, capable of blocking the view from the outside world.
In other parts of Bild City, the fences were often just railings that exposed the inner courtyard. For someone with secrets, that would be far too revealing.
After driving the carriage inside and closing the main gate, Amelia whispered, “Let’s bring the Mana Crystal Cannon into the house.”
Eileen nodded and unloaded the Mana Crystal Cannon from the carriage. She carried it inside and placed it in a cleared-out storage room.
The next step was cleaning the house.
The house came with its necessary furnishings, so cleaning wasn’t very difficult. However, just as Amelia picked up a broom, Eileen stopped her.
“Miss Lily, leave this sort of thing to me. How can I let you clean?”
“Cleaning a bit isn’t any trouble, and you, Eileen, still have other tasks to do.”
“Other tasks?”
“Yes, go buy some new bedding and other daily necessities. I’ll trouble you with those errands.”
Amelia’s aqua-blue eyes held a faint smile, which made Eileen hesitate.
She glanced at the broom in Amelia’s hand, wanting to say more, but Amelia spoke first. “Eileen, I’m not who I used to be. I have no noble status left. I’m just an ordinary girl now, and I truly have no right to live in comfort. Cleaning the house is something I should do.”
Looking into Amelia’s eyes and realizing her mind was made up, Eileen didn’t press the matter any further.
After that, Eileen went out.
Since she needed to buy quite a few household items, after preparing a shopping list, she drove the carriage out. She made a wide loop around Red Maple District and, in no time, purchased everything that was needed.
Just as Eileen was about to head back, a thought struck her.
Currently, Amelia’s disguised identity was Lily Hicks, and Eileen was her maid. But she had no real insights on how to be a proper maid. What if her own shortcomings caused Amelia to be exposed someday?
With this in mind, Eileen parked the carriage outside a bookstore. Shortly after, having purchased a book titled “Self-Cultivation of a Maid”, she headed back toward their residence.
Their address was 32 Red Maple District.
Eileen hadn’t returned yet, and Amelia was busy cleaning the house.
【”Self-Cultivation of a Maid”, huh? It’s passable.】
【Why do I feel like this book isn’t very reliable?】
【Is this “Self-Cultivation of a Maid” the decent kind or not?】
【Watching Eileen’s confused expression, making her be a proper maid is really too much for her, hahaha.】
While cleaning, Amelia spotted a line of bullet comments.
