Lost Island has five layers of arrays.
From outside to inside, they are: the Beach Maze Array, the Coconut Forest Illusion Array, the Lake Killing Array, the Boulder Pile Confinement Array, and the Gloomy Forest Killing Array.
Bai Sha’s goal was to lead Lei Ke into the Lake Killing Array.
Therefore, when Lei Ke, carrying Tianxuan, entered the Coconut Grove, Bai Sha deliberately manipulated the array there to create illusions, silently guiding Lei Ke toward the lake.
Lei Ke naturally had no idea he was already caught in Bai Sha’s scheme. As he flew low through the Coconut Grove, gripping Tianxuan, he didn’t notice the illusions at all.
Tianxuan sensed something was off, but because his skill level was insufficient, he couldn’t fully confirm the situation around them. He didn’t dare say much, afraid that speaking up would only cause him more trouble.
Thus, under Bai Sha’s subtle influence, Lei Ke flew through the Coconut Grove without hindrance.
A vast lake unfolded before his eyes.
Giant lotus leaves, adorned with dewdrops, sparkled exceptionally bright under the sunlight.
Pavilions stood in positions of profound mystery, exuding an enigmatic aura.
Seeing the change in scenery, Lei Ke couldn’t help but laugh: “It seems there was only an array on the beach.”
He hadn’t even realized there had been an array in the Coconut Grove he’d just passed through.
Seeing the new environment, Tianxuan’s heart clenched.
His intuition told him an array had definitely existed in the Coconut Grove, yet they had passed through it unimpeded and arrived at the next area. No matter how you looked at it, this seemed illogical.
And looking at the lake before them, Tianxuan could tell just from its design that an array must exist here, making his heart even more tense.
“Lei Ke, let’s go back first. I feel something is wrong here,” Tianxuan couldn’t help but say.
“What’s there to worry about? Shut up.” Lei Ke paid no attention to Tianxuan’s words.
Tianxuan grew more anxious: “If we don’t proceed cautiously in a place like this, we could face danger. Don’t fly so recklessly.”
Lei Ke glanced down at Tianxuan with displeasure. “Are you telling me what to do…”
Before he could finish, the lake below suddenly exploded! A jet of water shot up violently, slamming directly into Lei Ke.
Caught off guard, Lei Ke was blasted backward. His grip on Tianxuan loosened, and Tianxuan plummeted down, splashing into the lake with a loud smack and sending up sprays of water.
Tianxuan’s head bobbed up from the lake. His face turned green with fright, and he immediately turned and swam away.
After stabilizing himself in the air, Lei Ke was just about to grab Tianxuan again when more water erupted from the lake below. Streams formed into lines, weaving together into a massive net that enclosed him.
“This is…”
Lei Ke’s pupils constricted.
He glanced at the net surrounding him, then at Tianxuan, who was completely untouched by the attacks. His expression shifted, uncertain and grim.
What was happening?
Lei Ke was baffled, but there was no time to ponder the situation.
The net of water lines suddenly tightened. Each line was less like water and more like a razor-sharp blade, the kind that was impossible to dodge.
A powerful sense of danger flooded Lei Ke’s heart. With a great roar, his entire body erupted with dense lightning. He cast every lightning-related spell he knew in rapid succession, desperately trying to blast a hole in the net ahead.
“BOOM!”
Dense lightning slammed against the water net, exploding in brilliant flashes, but it couldn’t push the net back an inch.
Then, the blade-like net contracted to its limit. The water lines sliced into Lei Ke’s body. In the blink of an eye, his body was torn to shreds, bright red blood spurting into the air.
Lei Ke was dead.
Tianxuan, fleeing below, was terrified out of his wits when he witnessed this. He immediately sped up, racing desperately back toward the safety of the Coconut Grove.
Bai Sha, watching everything unfold from the shadows, paid no attention to Tianxuan.
Lei Ke’s death was entirely orchestrated by her.
She had concentrated the full power of the Lake region’s array onto this single point. The resulting destructive force was near the Demon Core Level. Lei Ke had no means to resist.
“A pity the arrays here have existed for so long and suffered considerable damage. They’re not at their peak anymore.”
Bai Sha sighed softly.
At their peak strength, these arrays would undoubtedly be of an even higher level, perhaps even surpassing the Demon Core level.
But if that were the case, Bai Sha felt she probably wouldn’t have been able to control the token in her hand.
She had reached the center of Lost Island by paying the price for using the Invisibility Cloak.
The Invisibility Cloak itself was an Ancient Forbidden Artifact of the Foundation Establishment Level. The influence of its cost was largely confined to that level. This meant that the intangible state would be invisible to Demon Cultivators at the Demon Core level, and naturally, a Demon Core-level array would also be able to detect it.
“Thinking it over carefully, the current situation is actually better for me.”
Bai Sha murmured this to herself. Then, holding the token, she resumed searching for traces of Yin Sha.
This time, she successfully located Yin Sha within the Coconut Grove.
However, Yin Sha’s situation didn’t look good. She was being pursued.
“Hand it over, and we’ll spare your life!”
“Do you think you can escape?”
“That item isn’t something you can possess!”
Accompanied by angry shouts, Yin Sha was shuffling quickly across the ground using her pectoral fins.
Behind Yin Sha, three Demon Cultivators were rapidly closing in.
Bai Sha didn’t recognize these three; they had clearly entered Lost Island before her and Yin Sha.
Bai Sha was about to intervene and save Yin Sha, but she stopped herself the moment the thought arose.
Lost Island held a destined opportunity for Yin Sha.
Bai Sha didn’t know if securing Yin Sha’s safety through her intervention might somehow prevent her from encountering that opportunity. So, it was better not to interfere.
Of course, she would keep a close watch on Yin Sha. If some butterfly effect caused an unexpected accident, she would still have time to step in and help.
After diverting a portion of her attention to Yin Sha’s side, Bai Sha used the rest to investigate other areas of Lost Island.
By this point, many Demon Cultivators had already left the beach and entered the Coconut Grove, and some had even reached the lake.
There were three passages leading from the beach to the Coconut Grove. Finding one of these passages allowed entry.
Lei Ke’s decision to have Tianxuan break the array had been a wrong choice.
And from the Coconut Grove to the lake, the lake to the Boulder Pile, the Boulder Pile to the Gloomy Forest, and the Gloomy Forest to the Peak—every transition had traversable passages. Theoretically, with enough luck, even the weakest Demon Cultivator could reach the location Bai Sha now occupied.
But Bai Sha, using the Ancient Forbidden Artifact, had already seized the initiative, arriving first and surpassing every other Demon Cultivator. Now, she held mastery over all of Lost Island.
