Wang Ya naturally knew what was happening behind them. She shrank into the car, reined in her Demonic Aura, and a surge of heat rolled up from her throat. She turned her body and “puff”—another mouthful of hot blood sprayed out, landing squarely on Huang Qi, who was sitting beside her and grabbing her arm. Huang Qi’s snow-white stand-collar Tang suit was instantly stained with a large patch of blood! Huang Qi cried out, “Wang Ya, are you okay?”
Wang Cheng’an shouted in fright, “Yaya! Why are you vomiting blood? Are you going to die?!”
Wang Ya gripped Huang Qi’s shoulder tightly with one hand and the driver’s seat with the other to steady herself. With blood in her mouth, she urged, “Old Tang, drive faster. Those Talisman Soldier Dolls won’t hold out for long.”
Zhang Qingshui turned her pale face to look at Wang Ya and asked, “Talisman Soldier Dolls?”
Wang Ya smiled with blood at the corner of her mouth and asked, “Don’t they look like true demons descending upon the world?”
Zhang Qingshui nodded with difficulty and said, “They do!” Her gaze fell on Wang Ya’s face. The bewitchingly beautiful features paired with that seemingly brilliant yet endlessly tragic smile stained with blood created an immense visual impact.
Wang Ya said, “I do have a way to summon true demons descending upon the world, but it requires setting up an altar and using a Blood Sacrifice ritual.”
Zhang Qingshui asked in a trembling voice, “Wang Ya, do we really have to go that far?”
Wang Ya laughed and asked, “If I don’t go all out, do I have a way to survive?” Her body went limp, and she simply stopped forcing herself upright, nestling directly into Huang Qi’s embrace using her as a backrest. The Twelve Heavenly Official Talismans were countless times more powerful than her Four Spirits Four Images. If it were the old Wang Ya, she probably would have perished on the spot. If the Laoshan Sect expert hadn’t ambushed her with the Twelve Heavenly Official Talismans while she was fighting Ghost Granny, sealing her first, she wouldn’t have lost so badly. Even then, if it hadn’t been at high noon when yang energy was at its peak, she wouldn’t have ended up in such a miserable defeat.
Wang Ya suddenly slumped, startling Huang Qi into stiffening. She asked softly, “Wang Ya, are you alright?”
Zhang Qingshui saw Wang Ya like this and furrowed her brows, asking, “Wang Ya, are you okay?”
Wang Ya closed her eyes and circulated her internal Demonic Power to repair her injuries. She didn’t know if it would work, but at least with the Demonic Power flowing, her organs hurt less, and her body slowly regained some strength. She felt drowsy but was a bit uneasy and said, “That Dead Old Lady really has some tricks. If I’m not mistaken, she underwent Body Seizure and rebirth.” Ghost Granny had been severely injured by her before and couldn’t recover that quickly. Even at her peak, Ghost Granny couldn’t move about at high noon. There was only one explanation: she now occupied a living person’s body and had fused with it perfectly, allowing her to disregard the noonday yang energy. Ghost Granny had seized that little girl’s body, and the girl’s soul was probably doomed. Body Seizure and rebirth was extremely dangerous—no one would resort to it unless absolutely necessary—and yet Ghost Granny had succeeded. An Ancient Old Ghost who had lived for many years and could now walk in the sunlight, backed by Righteous Path experts, made Wang Ya so angry she wanted to curse. Wang Ya asked irritably, “Isn’t Laoshan a famous orthodox sect? How are they mixing with the Dead Old Lady?”
Zhang Qingshui turned sideways to look at Wang Ya and replied softly, “There are no eternal enemies in the world. Having a common enemy makes it possible to become friends.” Seeing that Wang Ya still had the energy to think about these things, she knew it wasn’t serious, so she turned to face forward and stopped looking at Wang Ya. She thought to herself, As expected of a Millennium Great Demon; she sure can endure. Even the Laoshan old Daoist’s Twelve Heavenly Official Talismans couldn’t take her down—Wang Ya had withstood their bombardment head-on.
Exhausted and covered in wounds, Wang Ya couldn’t fight the sleepiness now that there were no signs of pursuers. She shifted to a more comfortable position, curling her legs onto Wang Cheng’an’s lap and shrinking into Huang Qi’s embrace before falling asleep.
Wang Cheng’an pouted and looked down at the legs pressing on his lap, complaining softly, “I’m hungry and no one pays attention to me!” He pursed his lips, reached back to grab the backpack from behind the seat and trunk, opened it, and pulled out a bag of beef jerky to chew. After chewing a piece, he looked at the others in the car, thought for a moment, opened his backpack to distribute snacks. Reluctant to share the beef jerky, he gave everyone a pack of biscuits. Seeing Wang Ya asleep, he stuffed a pack into her arms.
Huang Qi sat rigidly in her seat, not daring to move, letting Wang Ya lie in her embrace. Wang Ya’s body was soft and cool, faintly emanating a subtle fragrance she’d never smelled before. She could clearly feel the Demonic Power circulating in Wang Ya’s chilly body. Unable to see like normal people, she identified others through sounds and auras—beauty or ugliness made no difference to her. But being so close to Wang Ya allowed her to sense her even more clearly. Wang Ya’s Demonic Aura was heavy and thick, yet what emerged in her mind was a woman radiating red light, bewitchingly soft and beautiful. This woman clung tightly to her, sleeping in her arms. The Demonic Aura instilled fear from the bottom of her heart, but that faint floral scent and bewitching beauty firmly captivated her mind.
Fortunately, Wang Ya was asleep and stayed still. Huang Qi sat for a long time before relaxing slightly, but she still didn’t dare move, even though her legs were going numb under Wang Ya’s weight. Not wanting the others to notice her unease, she simply closed her eyes and pretended to doze.
The car hadn’t run for half an hour when Zhang Qingshui’s mobile phone started beeping nonstop with text message alerts. She looked down at the messages, sighed heavily with a heavy heart, and said, “Laoshan and the Ghost Family have spread the news about encountering Wang Ya just now. Things are getting a bit troublesome.” She paused, then continued reading the follow-up messages, saying, “Old Tang, find a place. We’ll hide for a couple of days. The map Wang Ya gave us is showing some leads; people are being sent to confirm the location.”
Old Tang asked worriedly, “Are the people sent out reliable? If word leaks, we might walk into an ambush.”
Zhang Qingshui gently uttered four words, “No need to worry.”
Old Tang said, “I have a friend around here. We’ll go to his place to lay low for a few days. Not sure how serious Wang Ya’s injuries are.”
Huang Qi opened her eyes and said, “Wang Ya’s breathing is steady. Nothing major.”
This seems to be the third update today. That’s all for today, =.= I’m exhausted and sleepy right now =.=
