“You have time to question your father here, so why don’t you get back to the training track and win the annual championship for me fair and square!”
Song Zhe’s tightly clenched fist loosened powerlessly, and he lowered his head.
“I understand… the annual championship… I’ll win it back.”
He lifted his head and looked at Song Weicheng. “So, Dad, please… don’t use those kinds of tactics anymore.”
Although he couldn’t prove it, he knew his father’s style all too well in his heart.
Song Weicheng waved his hand impatiently. “Get out, get out! Come talk to me once you have results!”
Song Zhe said no more and left the office.
The office door had just closed when the secretary walked in and stood in front of the desk.
Song Weicheng sat back in his chair and rubbed his brow. “How’s the situation? Any movement from the police?”
The secretary reported in a low voice:
“The police’s current focus is entirely on Wang Jiancheng. This pawn can’t be used anymore.”
Song Weicheng didn’t hesitate. “Cut off all contact and follow-up support with him. Let him fend for himself. If necessary… you know what to do. Make sure he shuts up forever.”
“Yes, I understand.” The secretary nodded.
Song Weicheng leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting to the bustling cityscape outside the window:
“The plan was so meticulous, choosing that remote stretch of road with enough manpower… How did the tire not get punctured? How did they escape and get caught by a group of villagers instead? Could it be… this really is heaven’s will?”
He fell silent for a moment before instructing the secretary:
“Go find a reliable fortune teller and have them calculate carefully for me. Check the fortunes, and also… the obstacles. See if there’s really something getting in the way.”
“Yes, Director Song. I’ll arrange it right away.” The secretary acknowledged and exited the office.
………………
In the Trauma Department consultation room, Xiong Yibai had just finished treating her last patient. During the downtime, she pulled out her phone and opened the real-time surveillance app for home.
The feed loaded, capturing Feng Miwan bustling in with several movers in tow.
“Master, handle this box with care—it’s got some car models inside!”
“Yeah, yeah, put that shelf against the wall, thanks!”
“Hey, careful, careful! That’s my helmet! It’s more important than I am!”
Xiong Yibai watched the busy figure on the screen, a smile tugging unconsciously at her lips.
She saw Feng Miwan direct the workers to place a metal display rack steadily beside the living room’s floor-to-ceiling window.
Then she personally carried over several long boxes labeled fragile, taking out trophies, medals, and a stack of embossed certificates,
and arranged them one by one on the rack—clearly cherished treasures, meticulously handled.
Once set up, Feng Miwan put her hands on her hips and declared:
“No wonder they’re my trophies—they’re as handsome as I am!”
Xiong Yibai also saw her bring a mini fridge, specially for her functional drinks and snacks, which she squeezed into a kitchen corner.
Once the items were mostly moved in, Feng Miwan sent the workers away and began organizing herself.
It wasn’t just simple placement; it felt more like a territorial merger—
placing her race car models next to Xiong Yibai’s medical books, stuffing her colorful snacks into Xiong Yibai’s neatly organized cabinets,
and even measuring the empty space in Xiong Yibai’s closet to plan where to hang her cool leather jackets and racing suits.
After finishing the tidying, she collapsed exhausted onto the living room carpet.
Little Honeybee padded over and sniffed at her scent.
Feng Miwan scooped the little one into her arms and started venting:
“Little Honeybee, do you see how hard it is for me? To live with your mom, I’ve basically relocated my entire base here!”
She waved a cat teaser stick, making Little Honeybee leap and pounce joyfully, while chatting with it:
“Tell me, when Yibai gets home from work and sees all my stuff suddenly here, will she throw me and the cat out together?”
Little Honeybee: …Are you asking me?
Of course, it couldn’t answer, merely chasing the feather with gusto.
Watching from her phone, Xiong Yibai couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
As time neared, Feng Miwan got up from the floor, ready to head out and pick Xiong Yibai up from work.
At shift end, outside the hospital.
Xiong Yibai walked out of the building right on time and spotted Feng Miwan leaning against the car door at a glance.
The sleek Maple Leaf Red sports car paired with her handsome vibe drew sidelong glances from passersby.
“Yibai, welcome home from work!” Feng Miwan grinned as she approached.
“Mm.” Xiong Yibai responded.
Back home, the moment the door closed, Xiong Yibai pinned Feng Miwan against it and leaned down for a kiss.
This possessive claim lingered until Feng Miwan’s breathing grew slightly ragged.
With cheeks flushed and heart still racing, Feng Miwan watched Xiong Yibai calmly head to the living room:
“Yibai, you… you’re not surprised? The house suddenly has so much of my stuff.”
“Not surprised.”
Xiong Yibai came over, took Feng Miwan’s hand, and began strolling around the place.
“By the way, I should tell you—these spots in the house have surveillance.”
She pointed to an inconspicuous decorative item in the living room corner, a small ornament atop the bookshelf, and something resembling a smoke detector at the kitchen door.
“Mainly for safety. And this one,”
She went to the entryway, operated the smart panel on the wall, and a small screen nearby lit up, showing the view outside.
“The door cam—screen’s here. You can see outside. I hadn’t turned it on before.”
Feng Miwan eyed the camera positions, recalling her antics at home…
Blood rushed to her face:
“You mean… you mean… everything I did at home before… you saw… all of it?!”
Xiong Yibai watched her near-explosion of shame and fury, a glint of amusement in her eyes:
“Not really. I only check occasionally during breaks at work. Today, I happened to catch you moving in.”
Feng Miwan let out a breath of relief. “Good, good…”
Luckily, those even sillier moments hadn’t been seen…
Xiong Yibai stepped closer, narrowing her eyes. “Why? Sounds like you’re hiding something from me?”
“No! Absolutely not!”
Feng Miwan quickly changed the subject.
“Um… lunch at home? And where to after?”
Xiong Yibai went along. “Mm, home for lunch. Afternoon… whatever, you pick.”
Right then—
Ding dong! Ding dong!
The doorbell rang insistently.
The two exchanged a glance, went to the door, and checked the newly activated screen to see Zhao Shutong and Ren Queyue tussling outside.
Feng Miwan opened the door. “Shu Tong? Queyue? What brings you here?”
Zhao Shutong looked utterly defeated and wailed:
“Miwan! Yibai! Save me! Get this deity out of here quick! I can’t take it anymore!”
Ren Queyue shot back: “Get me out? I’m here to protect you! Right, Yibai, Little Wan?”
She flashed a knowing smile at the two inside.
Zhao Shutong rolled her eyes:
“Thanks a lot! I don’t need it! Now I think you’re the biggest safety hazard!”
